DIY Impression Instructions
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN FULL BEFORE STARTING
Before You Start
Wash and dry your hands.
Brush your teeth.
Ensure the tray is clean and dry.
Have a timer ready.
Complete a “dry run” by placing the empty tray in your mouth to check positioning.
You will receive:
3x containers with blue material
3x containers with white material
Different sized mouthguard trays (refer below)
Step 1: Choose the Correct Tray Size
Before mixing the material, check that the tray fits correctly.
Place the empty tray into your mouth and check that:
All teeth fit fully inside the tray (from the very back tooth on one side to the very back tooth on the other side).
The tray does not cut into or painfully press on the gums.
The outer front edge (lip flange) sits comfortably between your teeth and lip.
The tray sits evenly and does not tilt to one side.
You can gently close your mouth without the tray shifting.
The tray should feel snug but comfortable.
Step 2: Combine the materials
YOU WILL NEED TO WORK QUICKLY. THE PUTTY SETS FAST
Open both material containers.
Place both materials together on a clean surface or in your palms.
Mix them together using your fingers.
Knead firmly for 20–30 seconds until the colour is completely uniform with no streaks.
⚠️ Once mixed, you will have limited working time (approximately 1–2 minutes). Work quickly.
Step 2: Load the Tray
Roll the mixed material into a sausage shape. Focus/favour on putting the material towards the edges rather than the middle
Press it evenly into the tray.
Step 3: Take the Impression
Stand in front of a mirror.
Insert the tray into your mouth in one smooth motion (pull one cheek to the side if necessary)
Seat it firmly and evenly over your teeth (read impression requirements in step 6).
Lift and pull your front lip over the front if you can and haven't. Gently massage your upper lips to push putty as far up as it will go
Push the tray up as far as it will sit and hold still — do not talk, chew, or move the tray.
Step 4: Allow to Set
Keep the tray in place for 3–4 minutes minimum
Do not remove early, even if it feels firm.
Step 5: Remove the Tray
Gently loosen from both sides.
Remove in one steady motion.
Do not twist excessively.
Step 6: Check Your Impression
Your impression should:
Clearly show all teeth from the very back tooth on one side to the very back tooth on the other side
Show the full height of each tooth
Capture the gumline around the teeth
Include the area where the lip meets the gum (labial frenulum)
Have no large holes, gaps, or air bubbles
Not be torn, thin, or distorted
The material should extend high enough above the front teeth to show the natural fold where your lip meets your gum. This area is important for correct mouthguard extension and fit.
If the impression does not clearly show these details, repeat the process using new material.

Step 7: Allow the Impression to Fully Set and Stabilise
After removing the tray from your mouth, place it on a clean, dry surface.
Allow the impression to sit undisturbed for at least 30 minutes before rinsing.
⚠️ Do not rinse immediately after removal. This additional time allows the silicone to fully stabilise and maintain its shape.
Do not:
Touch or press on the impression surface
Trim or adjust the material
Place in direct sunlight or near heat
Step 8: Rinse and Dry
After the 30-minute waiting period, gently rinse the impression under cool running water to remove saliva.
Shake off excess water.
Allow it to air dry completely on a clean surface.
Do not:
Use hot water
Scrub or wipe aggressively
Use heat to speed up drying
Step 9: Prepare for Return Shipping
Once fully dry, place the tray back into the provided plastic bag.
Add soft protective material around the tray to prevent movement during shipping.
Suitable protection includes:
Clean paper towels
Tissue paper
Bubble wrap
Ensure the impression surface is protected from pressure
Seal the bag securely (If ordering via gyms/clubs, please DM or email me to organise pick up and ignore next steps).
Place into the return packaging provided.
Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the impression during transport.
Step 10: Attach Return Label and Post
Ensure the impression is securely packaged and sealed.
Attach the provided return shipping label to the outside of the parcel.
Make sure the label is flat, secure, and clearly visible.
Drop the parcel off at your nearest post office or authorised postal drop-off location.
We recommend posting as soon as possible after packaging to avoid delays.
Important Tips
Mix the putty completely — streaks mean it may not set properly.
Work quickly after mixing.
Breathe through your nose while setting.
Avoid eating or drinking until finished.
Rinse/brush teeth before starting.
